More Summer Fun!

Our month of August didn't start well. Hunter got hand, foot and mouth syndrome, which was miserable for both of us! It started with a high fever, then red bumps started to form and on the 7th day was still developing more blisters. He's an over achiever and not only did he get them on his hands, feet and mouth, they were also on the bottom of his feet, in between fingers, palms of his hands, up his arms, legs, on his elbows, knees, behind knees, everywhere.
Some blisters were worse than others.
A month later, you can still see the red bumps on his feet and ankles and his toe nails are falling off.

A few Hunter-ism's:

He got in trouble for saying the word 'stupid', his response was 'stupid is a big boy word and I a big boy so it's fine I say stupid!' - Mr. Attitude got an adjustment.

While making dinner one evening, he came running in, crying hysterically. I asked what was wrong and he says 'My Dad said no I can't have cookies before dinner...' in the most dramatic voice!

Almost daily: 'Mom,let's go to daiwy qeen for ice cream!'

It's begun. Knock Knock jokes. He doesn't do it correctly and runs them together, but he surely understands the annoyance they bring  ;)
'Knock Knock, who's there? Banana! Banana?' HA HA HA and cracks up
'Knock Knock, who's there? Goofy!' HA HA HA laughing hysterically.
True man, laughing at his own jokes.

After feeding his piggy bank a nickel, he says 'my piggy is sad' with his pouty lip out. I ask why and he says 'he's still hungry for more monies'. Smart kid. Dad asked him where he thinks there is more money and he says 'In Mama's car!' so excitedly.

When he's disappointed, he says 'Awwwwwe' in the cutest voice!
He's still a stunt master and loves your attention. 'Look at me!' 'Watch this!' 'Did you see that?!'

He loves visiting with Mannie and Sharon and asks to go there every day. He also knows she always has Schwan's ice cream in her outside freezer... ;)

Hunter also has a huge fascination and obsession with the moon. We talk about it during the day, we have to see it every night, he loves to see it hide behind the mountains in the morning and we've been moon chasers more than once!

August also means bow season. Hunter is more aware this year and is not okay with Daddy being gone all weekend, hunting without him. Which, in turn, makes Mommy's life that much more wonderful ;)
Every mountain we pass, he says 'Is that the mountain my Dad is at? I gonna go find him!'
I've heard 'you're mean, Mom' a lot... he doesn't quite understand it's not that easy to just find Dad when he's out hunting.

Process of rash and blisters:

 before the blisters formed...

None of these pictures really do justice for how horrible they really were! Hunter wouldn't let me get any good pictures on the worst, 6th and 7th day but it was heartbreaking looking at them!
peeling process begins, he was scaling like a snake for well over a week.

Because he was contagious, he wasn't able to play with his cousins or friends...
and was very sad :( This was after one of the many times he asked to go see Dale.
So we had to find activities for entertainment ;)
 Sprinkler!
 Golf!
 He picked our first carrot!
